Klaus Krickeberg 1929–2025
The Bernoulli Society was saddened to learn of the passing of Professor Klaus Krickeberg on November 27, 2025, in Bielefeld. Professor Krickeberg served as President of the Society from 1977 to 1979 and played a crucial role in its international development, helping to establish regional committees in Latin America and East Asia, and leading the organisation of the first Bernoulli Society World Congress in Tashkent in 1986. Born in Berlin, Klaus Krickeberg held professorships in Heidelberg, Bielefeld, and Paris. He was widely recognized as a probabilist, statistician, and epidemiologist, and devoted several decades to public health work in Vietnam, highlighted in an article published in the IMS Bulletin in 2019. Our Society mourns the loss of a distinguished member and leader who made lasting contributions to its growth and global reach. Our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
